Easier to Add / Edit Arcades
on 9/11/2009 6:17:47 PM
I love the site and the recent renovation. Anytime I stumble across arcade games I try to add them.
First. I think an "add a location" button should be added in the bar at the top of the page.
Second. There should be an easy way to add games to add or remove games on existing arcades.
Keep up the good work!

I've figured out how to add an arcade to the database, but how do I edit? I'd like to update some game information and I'm not seeing a way to do it.

To edit games already in the Database. Just click on the game name title and it should be the first thing listed in the Options should be "Edit Game". From here you can enter the general info on the game as well as descriptions & stuff like the marquees and screen shots.
To edit information about a specific arcade's game go into the Locations game listing and then click the little pencil next to the name of the game you want to add info on. Info that can be added includes stuff like, whether its a upright or cocktail table, how the controls, screen and the overall condition of the cabinet. Also there is a comments section.
Not sure how much of these are admin functions though.

I don't get the pencil next to the game name when I open a location. Must be an admin function.
If game information needs updating at a specific location, what's the best way to go about it for us non-admins?

Yes, you are right, those functions are reserved for admins and arcade owners only. Arcade owners have admin functions, but only on their arcade. If there are any arcade owners out there ( I'm talking to you Timeline and Rusty Quarters) that do not yet have admin privileges to your arcade, speak up about it. Now, for regular members? Just go Submit Location like you would to submit a new location. You'll key in the name of the place and specify in the comment section that this is an update. Two ways you can do this, you can either say: 1) ... what games are no longer there and what games are new to the location 2) ... what all the games they have with all the changes made (copy/paste works pretty good here if the location has a large selection) That's it! Thanx for doing your part to keeping the database up to date.

I recently came across a new, at least to me, arcade in the Milwaukee area and do not see it listed on your database i wasn't sure where to ask so i decided to post it here, here is their link with the list of their games, just wanted to pass it on as they have a lot of older games including a Hyper Sports which is one of my favorites and in only a handful of arcades listed here, thanks
