Description
Based on the original 1979 game Asteroids, this is the first official arcade/coin-op sequel to Asteroids since Blasteroids.
It available in either two player or deluxe three player cabinets, and it uses the original control scheme of five buttons. It has been further enhanced with physical effects such as a wind blower(activates when you press thrust), two rumble motors, and a cabinet knocker that goes off on special events.
The gameplay still involves blasting space rocks and whittling them down into smaller sizes for points while you try and survive the ensuing chaos. There are more rocks than ever, but also power-ups to help you gain an edge in a hectic situation. The game is now divided up into 256 waves, with a challenge stage once every seven waves.
Another new feature is the integration with a mobile app called Major League eSports (MLeS). This allows users to login to a machine using their phone, then it tracks their score and notifies them if someone else beats their score on the machine. Players can also earn and track achievements, and participate in weekly nationwide tournaments for League Points.
The game also has an option to dispense E-tickets, if the operator sets it to do so. It is manufactured by Alan-1 and is fully licensed by Atari.
