Arcade "Gun" Games - the Guns
on 5/9/2014 11:53:06 PM
Hello fellow gamers:
I have what I hope is a simple question.
There are many "gun games" out there from back in the day..."Crossbow", "Chiller", "Cheyenne", "Turkey Shoot", "Shooting Master" and many more. Are all the gun pieces for these titles BASICALLY the same (i.e. gun with trigger and potentially one button like "Operation Wolf") ?
My question is that if a gun on one title breaks do you absolutely HAVE TO get the same make/gun to replace it, or can you use a gun from a similar trigger or trigger/button title and tweak to fit ?
Thanks !!

Operation Wolf is different. It is not a light gun at all, but actually a complex joystick that measures movement on the different axes as it pivots. It is generally considered more reliable from a durability standpoint but does need calibration pretty often.
It is probably safe to assume that the guns are interchangeable on all of the Exidy titles from back in the day but I'll leave it to more knowledgeable collectors and techs to answer that one. Not sure about Williams' Turkey Shoot, as it was an outlier.
