New arcade games in database
on 5/2/2011 1:38:13 AM
Midway's War Gods has been added to the database. There were two vertical shooters I remember playing back in the late 80s but could not remember their names. With the help of KLOV, I was able to discover them all over again. Ajax (which is already in the database) and MX 5000 (which I have now added to the database). Both by Konami. Ah the memories.
5-3-11 Edit: Brand new game added. Pump it up Fiesta EX 2011.

Flurry of vintage pinball machines have been added to the database! Instead of describing them one by one, just check out Village Arcade in St. Peter's, PA. There are many electromechanical machines that so far are not found anywhere else... yet! http://www.aurcade.com/locations/view.aspx?id=948

A whole flurry of retro pinball machines was added to the database, however instead of listing them one by one, the newest entries into the Aurcade database can be found here. http://www.nationalpinballmuseum.org/museum/machines.htmlWhat I like about this list is that every machine listed here links directly to http://www.IPDB.org for more detailed information about that game. All of the new pinball machines added to the list were from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. On a side note, the very rare Capcom pinball machines can be found here too!

Three new games have hit the list.
Devastators: 1988 Konami shooter.
Raven: 1986 pinball machine co-created by Gottlieb and Premier
Wheel of Fortune: A brand new redemption game co-created by Konami, Raw Thrills, and Playmechanix. Features a video touchscreen and a giant wheel.
Edit: Also added salt and pepper to Silverball Mania, Gladiator, and Flip Flop pinball submissions. Just to make them a little more professional looking.

Just added:
Megatouch Force 2005
A local laundromat just added this in, and noticed we had 2004 and 2007, but not 2005. Not sure if there are 2006s anywhere yet, as that edition has yet to be added. Will add it if I see it.

The local classic arcade just got some classic pinball machines in, and 3 weren't in the DB, so I've added them: Bally: Silverball Mania and Flip Flop Gottlieb: Gladiators

This is more of a siting than anything.
Mortal Kombat (2011) by Netherrealm is gaining popularity in arcades. This game was only available in consoles, however savvy arcade owners are creating cabinets of this game for arcade play. It is catching on. Be on the lookout for this game at your favorite arcade!
6-3-2011 EDIT: Also, be on the look out for TRON: Legacy by Stern Pinball slated to come out some time this year.

The Original Screamer Seat of Terror by Nova in 1998 I used to see this one at Jillians locations alot. If a Jillians location still exists near you, see if they still have it.

Lots of retro pinball machines make it onto the database today! Interestingly enough, every single one was made by Williams!
4 Star in 1958 Beat the Clock in 1973 Big Deal in 1977 Darling in 1973 Dew-Wa-Ditty in 1948 Doozie in 1968 Fan-Tas-Tic in 1972 Golden Bells in 1959 Harvey in 1951 Joust in 1983 (a two player head-to-head pinball game) Klondike in 1971 Liberty Bell in 1977 Magic City in 1967 Magic Town in 1967 Miss-O in 1969 OXO in 1973 Satin Doll in 1975 Screamo in 1954 Soccer in 1964 Triple Action in 1974 Triple Strike in 1975 Zig Zag in 1964
Whew! That's alot!

Here's an arcade game I've never heard of before!
Donkey King Jr. Plays like Donkey Kong Jr. with Crazy Kong style gameplay. Information on who made it and when is apparently hard to come by at the moment.
Also put some more vintage pinball machines in the database! Big Brave by Gottlieb in 1972 Bumper by Bally in 1936 Crossroads by Gottlieb in 1952 Daisy May by Gottlieb in 1954 Flying High by Gottlieb in 1953 Manhattan by SIRMO of Belgium in 1984 Mystic Marvel by Gottlieb in 1954 Silver Sails by Bally in 1964 Wild West by Gottlieb in 1951

NASH,
(If I may call you nash)
Donkey King jr..is a bootleg chip of DKJ that "some" arcade owners" or route people put into DKJ to give their patrons a "different experience"..kinda like fast Pac man or "unbeatable SBM.
I saw two back in the day...and wasn't impressed...I don't think we shout add or count bootlegs or "alternate versions of games...like "Mr. OO", but that decision is not up to me.

I can understand your concern about not including bootleg or hacked versions of arcade games in the database. I can think of three reasons why they should. 1) KLOV does include them in their listing. 2) Just because some hacks are not as good as others doesn't make them any less worthy of being in the database. Can you imagine if we didn't include Crazy Kong? Pac-Man Plus? Street Fighter II Rainbow Edition? (soapbox time!) 3)Some of the best arcade games in the world were made as a result of hacks and bootlegs of other games. Ms. Pac-Man came into being because of hacks like Mr. Otto. Crazy Kong actually hit arcades before Donkey Kong did. We just need to explain it saying "yes, this is a bootleg. Here's the game they bootlegged off of". Now, granted, not every bootleg needs to be in there. 200 bootleg variations of Street Fighter would clog up the database and make it that much harder to search for your favorite game. Best piece of advice would be if you actually see it in an arcade, it's good enough for Aurcade.
