ACAM 15 Results as of Friday 10:50pm
on 5/31/2013 10:54:04 PM
Hello everyone:
I took a look at the standings and saw a few surprises !!
The 8300 score on "Night Driver" had me absolutely stunned...I had no idea that this was even remotely possible on the title. A stunning achievement indeed.
MSP's 48K on "The End" has got to be right around what Perry Rodgers did back in the 80's. I'm not sure if that one had since been surpassed on the scoreboard.
"Exerion" brings back memories. This was one of the titles I played back in the day very much. Patience is the key in this one...the big points come down the line, so racking up and saving the rapid fire ammo for deep into the game makes a huge difference here, as does the one-shot approach when the action is not as intense.
Good luck one and all. Wish I could have been there for all the fun and games.

Ah, that explains it !! For a minute there I thought that the game had been taken to realms never thought to be possible before. Thanks for letting me know :)

Actually Robbie, Night Driver is marathonable. I can totally do 8 million on that game without even trying.

Doesn't make sense at all...8 million is impossible. Sorry, don't buy it.
For starters the game has an initial timer that is up to 125 points with an extension at 350. I am unsure if you can get another extension at 1,350, I must admit. However...
-> If you can pull off a constant 2000 points per minute which reflects a constant speed well in excess of 300, that would take 4000 minutes to achieve 8 million points, or roughly 67 hours
-> If you could do 3000 points per minute, reduce the total time to "just" 44 hours, but the speed level necessary for this would have to be maintained constantly at close to 450 or more
-> In fact, to get 8 million points inside of 24 hours you would need to be racking up a score at the pace of slightly less than 6000 points per minute...non-stop. Your speed would be around 800 and unless you have the reaction time of a computer this is just not possible. Sorry.
Maybe you are thinking of another title like "Speed Freak" which was released after "Night Driver" ? Unsure if that is marathon-able but never invested much time into it.

Just getting 797 points left me a bit worn out. 8000 would kill me. 8,000,000 would kill me a thousand times over.

The game is a lot easier on MAME using a mouse, but even then it is still very intense and requires sharp timing all throughout.

8 million was an inside joke. Sorry for not mentioning that for everyone checking out this thread.
